Welcome! Your school has officially joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Hero Squad by participating in the Pennies for Patients campaign. Pennies for Patients is a science-based philanthropy program designed to give children the tools to make a difference by supporting blood cancer patients and their families. We’re proud to be your partners and thank you for taking on this initiative as a school community.
Everything you need to know:
Your Pennies for Patients campaign will be led by student Faith Ryu and Leigh’s LEOs Club.
Your campaign will take place from Jan 27 to Feb 14 2020.
Students are encouraged to collect spare change throughout the campaign. The program is called Pennies for Patients, but all kinds of change and cash are accepted! Students are encouraged to create their own online fundraising page and collect donations from family and friends.
You can fundraise by creating a classroom page that you can share with your friends and family. Select “Create a Classroom” here: https://events.lls.org/pages/svmb/LeighHighSchool-2020
Encourage your students to fundraise by setting a homeroom goal – if it’s achieved, is there a reward you can provide to all students (homework pass, free period, wear a funny costume to school and teach in it all day)
Schools that raise a minimum of $750 will receive a Celebration Party from their choice of either Dominos or Olive Garden for their top fundraising classroom!
40% of pediatric cancers are blood cancers. The Pennies for Patients program is helping to fundamentally change the way pediatric blood cancers are treated which is what makes the program so unique – kids helping kids!
